In fact, the only way one might be upset is if they are the type who do not like to see a pristine, newly restored version of an old horror movie and would prefer that grainy, rundown look. The daylight scenes are quite bright and colorful. While the extras maybe carry-overs from the DVD release, the picture quality is astonishing. Grindhouse Releasing put some time and work into this Blu-ray release. You’re not going to have too many moments watching this film where you look at the effects and say, “Oh, boy! That was cheesy!” More likely, you’re going to be like, “Holy shit! Did you see that?!” There are moments of intentional and (maybe) unintentional humor. The film is very well shot and the music definitely fits the mood. It is an entertaining film if you like good gore and nasty kills, but if you’re looking for a movie with that certain something, like Halloween or Friday The 13th, chances are you’re not likely to find it. It has been hailed by critics like Joe Bob Briggs, and Eli Roth claimed it to be his all-time favorite horror film. This Spanish film, directed by Juan Piquer Simon, became quite the sensation.
